Fly Away. . .

Posting may light for a while. We fly away toward the east in the morning . . . to the Washington, D.C. area for my great-nephew's Bar Mitzvah, seeing many family members who will be there, sightseeing and visiting with old friends we haven't seen for several years.

My hope is to post from my laptop along the way. But I personally wouldn't count on it. We'll just have to see what happens along the way.

If you have the energy upon your return, I would greatly appreciate if you would describe the perceptions you have of the bar mitzvah you have attended. I have unfortunately not ever known anyone (at the time of their ceremony) who has experienced this event. I would very much enjoy hearing of the real happenings, not the stereotypical story-lines bantered about in film and in books. I especially would enjoy descriptions of the family's emotions and also of the spiritual underpinnings of the event.

Thank you for your comments on my blog, also. I greatly appreciate them.

Pipe: This Bar Mitzvah will be an emotional one for me because the young man is the oldest grandson of my late oldest brother.

I will try to report as you suggest and I will also, some time in the future, try to recall memories of my own Bar Mitzvah nearly 57 years ago as well as those of my sons (1980 and 1996) and my daughter's Bat Mitzvah (1994).

Thank you for your comments and for providing me with a motive to be a bit more analytical than I otherwise might be.
